The following inventory or checklist is based on my personal
experience with gifted children.
In order to determine if a child is gifted, simply add
the points corresponding to the observed behaviors. Notice that the described behaviors
have different predictive power, and therefore different weights.
A total score above 15 indicates that the likelihood
of giftedness is greater than 50%. Also, the greater the score, the more likely
the child is to be gifted.
You can use the questions in bold (the last ones) to
identify a gifted child who does not do
well at school – a score above 12
on this scale indicates that the child should take an intelligence test as soon
as possible.
